Getting Organized: Make a What Not to Do List
By
I accept that I will never achieve a state of organization perfection.
And while I love knowing what I should do to get organized, making a what not to do list appeals to the curmudgeonly side of my personality.
Here's my Not To Do List:
Don't Worry. Be Happy - nothing ever got done around here because I worried about it.
What I really need is a day off, so I am taking one today. I get disorganized when I need to rest. I re-charge in little chunks like three-day weekends because I'm too busy for a big vacation right now. It's a start.
Don't Try to Be Mother Immaculate - There was not one pin out of place in our house when I was growing up. I'm not my mother. (Years of therapy taught me that.) So I keep my house neat, but I always leave my shoes on the floor. You'll generally find a pair or two in every room. What a rebel!
Forget it - I made a list of three things I had to do today or suffer dire consequences. I'm not making any other lists or even thinking about lists. (Yes, this is related to "Don't Worry," but, like I said, I'm not perfect.)
I'm going to the beach now.
See you tomorrow. Have an imperfect day.
