Clutter Control: Ask Yourself the Right Questions

Question MarksYou want to de-clutter your home or office, but you’re having a hard time deciding what to keep. Here are some questions to ask yourself as you consider each item.

** Is it very useful?

** Do I love it? (If not, do I have room in my life for things that are merely OK?)

** Does it make my heart sing? Or does it pull my energy down?

** Do I already have a number of similar things? If so, which one (or ones) will I really use?

** If it’s broken, will I really take the time to fix it?

** How often will I use it? If infrequently, are there other options to owning this thing?

** Does this relate to my present or my desired future, or is it something meant for the person I used to be?

** For greeting cards: Is this from someone dear to me, and does it have a personal note or photo?

** For reference information (books and papers): Is this information up-to-date? Could I find equally good information on-line if I were to need it?

Applying these simple questions to every item you come across will help you to weed out all but the best in your home, office, and life.
