Product of the Week & Repurposed Product: Moon and Stars Store & Take-along

By Eva Wallace

117888Since I forgot to post the Repurposed Item of the Week last week, I thought I'd give you a two in one this week with the Moon and Stars Store & Take-along.

It's intended for kid's toy storage, but wouldn't it be great for crafts or stamping? Or maybe school supplies or toiletries? Even snacks in the pantry! And if the primary colors aren't you style, a quick coat of paint would make it suitable for any room.

Where would you use it??

Product of the Week: Sweater Pill Remover

By Eva Wallace

pill-removerI like to give you products of the week that I have tried so I can give you a personal review, and this one is fantastic!

This is the best pill remover I have ever used. It gets all those little obnoxious balls off your sweater in just a couple of quick sweeps.

It's only $8.99, and it's made from post consumer recycled materials, so it's green, too!

Product of the Week: Two-in-One Closet Combo Organizer

By Eva Wallace

15868-closet-comboHere's a great little find - the Two-in-One Closet Combo!

It's an inexpensive ($29.99) and easy to assemble solution to utilize all that difficult-to-organize upper closet shelf space.

The main two sections have shallow drawers with pull-handles. They function sort of like the Slide-out Cabinet organizers by easily sliding out the contents for quick and painless access.

Product of the Week: Jewelry Cabinet

By Eva Wallace

jewelry-cabinetThis is one of the best jewelry storage ideas I’ve seen!

It’s a solid wood cabinet with a mirrored front. You’d never know that there’s a huge storage space behind it! It’s about as deep as a medicine cabinet and it’s lined in a rich forest green fabric. It’s big enough to hold a ton of jewelry – necklaces, earrings, bracelets, even rings! It comes in different wood finishes and you can order it with or without a lock. You can find it here.

I want one!

Product of the Week: Stacking Bins

By Eva Wallace

binsWe recently added the cutest little stacking bins to our Stacks and Stacks website!

These handy little bins come in three different sizes; small, medium and large. They're made from a hard but not brittle plastic that's super chip resistant and crystal clear. They're great for CDs, craft or office supplies, seasoning packets in the kitchen, in the bathroom for hair ties.

Their only limit is your imagination!

Product of the Week: Think Green

By Eva Wallace

bambooNot quite a product of the week; more like a material of the week. Did you know that Stacks has a whole section of its website dedicated to environmentally friendly “green” products? Here’s something you may not know; Bamboo and Rubberwood are very Earth friendly.

Bamboo is actually a grass. Incredibly fast growing and hardy, it can be harvested wild or plantation grown and will replenish itself within only a few years. Bamboo used whole is an excellent building material for furniture and home décor, while its fibers can be broken down and used to make paper, carpet-style rugs and even clothing!

Product of the Week: Monitor Stand

By Eva Wallace

monitor-standI have trouble with most monitor stands. They’re too tall. But without one, the monitor is too low. Either way, it’s literally a pain in the neck. I had to settle for a ream of printer paper until I found this.

It’s covered in a leather-look black vinyl with white stitching. It has little catch-all pockets on both sides, but the best part is the magnetic-closure drop-down door in the front that hides enough storage space underneath to hide my ream of paper!

Product of the Week: Wear Your Diaper Bag!

By Emily Weigel

128434Moms and Dads alike can relate to the universal problem that all diaper bags have: they’re cumbersome and constantly slip off your shoulder. At the park, the doctor’s office, the airport…it’s the last thing you need on top of diffusing tantrums, changing a squirming child, and corralling the little ones. Plus, most dads I know aren’t fond of carrying a bag in public.

Enter the Diaper Vest!

Product of the Week From the Green Gift Guide

By Eva Wallace

built-lunchbagOur product of the week this week is featured on This Old House's Green Gift Guide!

Our Insulated Lunch bag is made of neoprene - you know, the wetsuit stuff - which insulates surprisingly well and also helps protect your lunch from bangs and bumps. And as most of you know, neoprene has quite a bit of stretch to it. So along with the help of the heavy-duty plastic zipper, you can stuff these little babies pretty full! It’s fully washable and has a comfortable carry-handle. Well worth the $19.99 price tag!

Product of the Week: Light Keeper

By Eva Wallace

lightkeeperHoliday decorating is so much fun – until you’re confronted with a massive tangled ball of lights! We found a great solution!

The Light Keeper kit comes with two spools that mount to the racks inside of the sturdy storage bag. You can remove the spools to dispense the lights or pull them right off the spool while it's in the bag. Each spool will hold approximately 75 to 100 feet of indoor lights. The bag also has an outer pocket that’s great for extension cords and spare bulbs.

Product of the Week: The Decorating Assistant

By Emily Weigel

decoratingassistantThe biggest obstacle when completing a decorating project (whether it's an entire house or just one room) is the clutter that ensues. Drawings, swatches, clippings, business cards, and instruction manuals strewn about the house, are the last thing you need if you want a successful job done.

My jaw just about hit the floor when I came across the Decorating Assistant Organizer. As I raised my fists in the air and let out half-elated / half-aggravated roar to the heavens, I thought about my previous projects and the time, confusion, and headaches I could’ve saved myself.

I am so excited about the Decorating Assistant. Not only because it will keep me organized during my next project, but because staying organized will alleviate the disorder, and put the fun back in decorating!

Junk in the Trunk? Product of the Week: Trunk Organizer

By Maire Kaye

trunkorganizer2Sure, I used to live on the edge. The rock and roll lifestyle. I remember those days - driving home from the grocery store, with a carton of eggs and a huge bottle of detergent rattling around in the trunk of the car. Taking those turns, and hearing 'roll..roll..roll…THUNK!'.

Yep, I was a slave to the rock and roll of loose bags of groceries. In a way, it was a time-saver to have my tomatoes turned into sauce while I drove home. But with this trunk organizer, I'm saving myself from white-knuckle driving, and wincing whenever the car turns or stops.

Product of the Week: Double-Duty Battery Case for Disaster Preparedness

By Emily Weigel

batterycaseMost disasters allow very little time to sort through batteries, let alone test them. If you're like me, you probably have a bunch of batteries rolling around in a drawer. But with disaster preparedness on my mind, I realized that if the batteries are not easy to access, or not working, they certainly won't be any help in an emergency situation.

So, as you’re crossing off items on your “emergency to-do” list, consider this battery organizer and tester case where you can store batteries safely:
   • It will store multiple sizes securely in the case
   • A built-in LED tester lets you can check in periodically to make sure your batteries are charged.

Product of the Week: A Generator That Controls Clutter

By Emily Weigel

powerdomeInstead of cluttering up my disaster kit with multiple emergency appliances, I went hunting for an all-in-one product that does everything I need and found the Power Dome Portable Power Station.

Talk about disaster preparedness! This compact generator's features include:
   • a light for when the power’s out,
   • air in case tires are flat,
   • a cell phone charger,
   • and it can even jumpstart the car.

Product of the Week: Quakehold Putty

puttyLiving in California always gets me thinking about earthquakes during Disaster Preparedness Month.

My mom survived the 1989 Loma Prieta quake in Northern California. The damage to her home and her stuff would have been much worse if it weren't for this nifty little item.

She had stuck it to the bottom of all her collectible items around the house. Most of her items stayed on the shelves and she lost very few things to the quake!

Disaster Preparedness: No Batteries or Electricity Needed

By Emily Weigel

dynamoradioAs I’m putting together an emergency kit, I’m thinking in terms of worst case scenario. No batteries needed.

And the problem with most emergency appliances is that they either require batteries, or if they’re rechargeable, you need a power source to charge them. You may think you’ve prepared yourself by packing batteries in the kit, but what do you do when the batteries are gone?

The Dynamo Radio Flashlight solved both of my dilemmas. It does have a rechargeable battery, but uses a hand crank to charge it. I feel better knowing that if something disastrous happens, I can get weather reports, signal an alarm, find my way in the dark, and even charge my cell phone – no batteries or electricity needed!

Product of the Week: Iris Stackable Filing Drawer

By Eva Wallace

file_irisI work from a little office in the back of our one bricks and mortar Stacks and Stacks store, so I get to see first hand many of the new products we get. This one's a winner.

These file drawers are stackable. You can use just one on a tabletop or stack them together to create a whole bank of file cabinets. The thing I like most is the sleek rounded lines of the drawer fronts. They really look classy and they are very affordable.

Product of the Week: Abracatdabra!

By Eva Wallace

catbox.pngThis has got to be the coolest cat litterbox innovation yet. The Cat Washroom is a classy little piece of furniture with a towel bar on the side and a storage shelf on top. And best of all; it makes the litter box “disappear” The door is hinged so you can remove the litter box easily for cleaning.

Now if they could only find a way to make everything in the box disappear…

Product of the Week - Pine-wood Storage Bed

storage_bedSince under-bed storage seems to be a theme here lately, what better product to feature this week?

This Pine-wood Storage Bed has an amazing amount of storage space packed neatly and inconspicuously beneath it. It’s perfect for small rooms and minimalists.

Who needs a dresser?!
